Common questions

Answers to what people ask most about Living On Grace. More detail is available in the full support center.

What it is

What is Living On Grace?

A spiritual health companion that matches your mood with scripture. You check in with how you feel, and it finds a verse written for that exact moment. The core loop is: check in, receive scripture, done.

Who is it for?

Anyone who carries something they cannot name or sit with alone. It works for people with a strong daily practice and for people who have not opened a Bible app in months. It does not ask where you are in your faith. It asks how your soul feels today.

Is it a Bible app?

Not exactly. Living On Grace is built around mood, not reading plans. You do not start with a chapter. You start with an honest check-in, and the scripture comes to you.

Is there a denomination or theological position required?

No. Living On Grace does not ask what tradition you come from or where you stand theologically. It serves scripture without gatekeeping who deserves to read it.

Getting started

Is Living On Grace available today?

The web app is live now at app.livingongrace.app. Mobile and desktop builds are in progress. The release notes track what has shipped.

Do I need an account?

No. The full experience — check-in, scripture, reflection — requires no account. An account is only needed to sync your data across multiple devices.

Which platforms are supported?

Web now. iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux are in progress. All platforms will share the same data when sync is enabled.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Offline support is a core design requirement. Your check-ins and reflections are stored on your device. When a connection is available, sync catches up.

Privacy and your data

Where is my data stored?

On your device by default. Nothing leaves your phone or computer unless you explicitly enable cloud sync. There are no analytics SDKs and no behavioral tracking in the app.

Can I delete everything?

Yes. Settings → Delete my data removes all your data immediately and irreversibly. If you enabled sync, cloud records are removed within 24 hours. You can also submit a formal request at livingongrace.app/request-data-deletion.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Settings → Export my data gives you a plain JSON file with everything. Readable by any tool, no Living On Grace required.

Do you sell data?

No. Living On Grace does not collect data in a form that could be sold, and would not sell it even if it did. Your reflections are not a product.

The experience

Does Living On Grace track my streak?

No. There are no streaks, no badges, no points, and no daily use pressure of any kind. Missing a day is not a moral event.

What happens if I have not used it in a while?

You receive a quiet welcome. After seven days away: "Welcome back. No catching up needed — just start where you are." After thirty days: "Still here. Still glad you came back." No guilt. No count.

How does mood-to-scripture matching work?

You check in with how you feel. The app maps that feeling to scripture curated for that emotional state. "Heavy" returns a lament Psalm. "Grateful" returns an orientation Psalm. The matching is editorial, not algorithmic.

Will it send me guilt notifications?

No. Reminders are optional and gentle. The product is designed around return, not pressure. You set them at a time you choose, and you can turn them off at any time.

Cost and sustainability

Is Living On Grace free?

Every feature is free. No subscriptions, no paywalls, no trials, no ads. That is not a temporary offer. It is how the product is designed.

Will there ever be ads?

No. Not in the free version. Not in any version. Not ever.

How is it sustained?

The project is currently self-funded and open source. Future sustainability may include optional donations or grants. Any model considered must be consistent with the free-for-all commitment.

Is the code open source?

Yes. The code is published under the MIT license on GitHub. You can view, fork, and contribute.
